The ISC has Members and partners across the world and is active in all regions.
To further strengthen connections with Members, other science organizations and scientists worldwide, and to amplify regional voices in global science, the ISC is building its regional presence through:
Existing Regional Focal Points:
- Àisia agus an Cuan Sèimh: Tha Ionad Fòcas Roinneil ISC airson Àisia agus a’ Chuan Shèimh is hosted by the Australian Academy of Science (launched in 2023)
- Aimearaga Laideann agus an Caribbean: Tha Ionad Fòcas Roinneil ISC airson Ameireagaidh Laidinn agus a’ Charibbean is hosted by the Academia Colombiana de Ciencias Exactas, Fisicas y Naturales (launched in 2022)
Regional Focal Points in development:
- Afraga: The ISC and several partners in Africa are working towards the establishment of an ISC Regional Focal Point for Africa in Nairobi, with decentralized posts in other sub-regions of the continent.
- Meadhan Àisia agus Trans-Caucasia: The ISC and the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Uzbekistan have agreed to establish an ISC Regional Focal Point for Central Asia and Transcaucasia in Tashkent (expected to be operational in 2026).
- Middle East and North Africa: Tha aig an ISC ainmichte a letter of intent with the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation of Oman to establish an ISC Regional Focal Point for Middle East and North Africa in Muscat (expected to be operational in 2026).
Other regional groups:
- Eòrpa: Tha Buidheann Bhuill Eòrpach ISC promotes informal consultations among ISC Members in the European region.
